Pao de Acucar by johonbravo Pao de Acucar by johonbravo
Pão de Aҫucar (Sugar Loaf) rises 1300ft as it juts into the Atlantic Ocean. Two cable cars run from the peak down to Morro da Urca, then to the ground. The cable cars have been operating sice 1912. It is also the setting for a scene from James Bond's 1979 film "Moonraker".

I got up at 5:30 to catch the sunrise behind Pão de Aҫucar from Botafogo Beach.

I shot for a bit then before I notices all the seagulls that had gathered on the beach. So I would sneak up on a group of birds then throw a stick near them to get them to fly... By now people were starting to come out for their morning jogs on the beach...so they were probably wondering why I would keep going to different parts of the beach, sitting still, then throwing things at birds.
